Blindsided by God

James Alison

Reconciliation is often presented as a moral issue, of the sort that is the option of the weak. In this presentation the desire for reconciliation is presented as a gift coming from a position of strength that is not in rivalry with us in our conflicts. Paul is our principal guide in showing us that it is a matter of extraordinary good fortune that we find ourselves on the inside of an adventure in which our access to being created, to becoming what we are really made to be, passes through the process of our learning to be reconciled, not as humiliation, but as unexpected gift.
